Dr. Ajit Singh, Dean of Library & Information System, joined Eternal University in May 2009. He is well known as a visionary Librarian and a seasoned Library & Information Science Teacher, known as “Pitamanh of Library & Information Science” in Himachal Pradesh amongst his students. He has a rare blend of a Professional Librarian and Library Science teaching, laminated with a rich experience of 40 years in the field. Apart from his expertise in the library and information science, he has a knack to work & excel in multiple roles-such as Dean of Student Welfare, Controller of Examinations, Public Relation Officer and Office Administrator. He and his team is working hard to automate the University Library on modern lines

Before joining Eternal University, he was an active member of the Department of Distance Education at Punjabi University Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, where he worked as Guest Faculty. He has acted as a Research Guide/Counsellor for the Bachelor & Master Degree Programmes of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi; Algapa University, Vinkya Mission University and Chaudhary Devi Lal University Hissar.

During his tenure as Documentation Officer from 1986 to 2001 in the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, he also worked as editor of the “Vidhan Mala” official journaL of Vidhan Sabha. After his retirement from H.P. Vidhan Sabha in 2001, he has been Guest Faculty at number of universities and has published extensively in Punjabi, Hindi and English literature.

He is the author of Six Books: Cataloguing Procedure Manual (AACR II & CCC); Prasuchikaran Niyam Padhati (AACR II & CCC) in Hindi; Suchikaran Nemavali (AACR II & CCC) in Punjabi; Library at Suchnakendra de Prabandh (Punjabi); Library ate Suchnakendra de Adhar (Punjabi); and Suchna technology also in Punjabi.

From 1969 to 1986 he worked in Punjabi University Patiala in different professional capacities.
