Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. H.S. Dhaliwal was Guest of Honour & Delivered Plenary Lecture at National Conference on Biotechnology for Sustainable Development organized by Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi Centre of Excellence for Bioresourcing and Bioprospecting(TEQIP II)

A Conference entitled ‘National Conference on Biotechnology for Sustainable Development’ was organized by Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi Centre of Excellence for Bioresourcing and Bioprospecting (TEQIP II) from 17th Dec-19th Dec, 2015. The inaugural session was presided over by Dr. P. Ghosh (Executive director, BISR, Jaipur), Chief guest Dr. K.V. Prabhu and the Guest of Honor Prof. H.S. Dhaliwal. This conference was attended by several distinguished scientist from around the country including Dr. Ruchi Ananad (IIT Bombay), Dr. Manoj Prasad (NIPGR, New Delhi), Prof. U.C. Banerjee (NIPER Mohali), Dr. Adinpunya Mitra (IIT Kharagpur). Our Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. H.S. Dhaliwal also delivered a plenary lecture on the topic entitled ‘Biotechnology for global food & health security.’ He also chaired one session in the conference and the questions raised by him during the conference enhanced the knowledge of students and extracted out valuable information from different speakers. An oral presentation entitled ‘Marker assisted breeding of recombinant 1RS.1BL chromosome for improvement of bread making quality and yield of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) was also given by Dr. Pritesh Vyas, Assistant Professor, Akal College of Agriculture in this conference. This paper was the result of team effort carried out in the plant molecular biology laboratory at Akal College of Agriculture, Eternal University, Baru Sahib. The conference ended with a vote of thanks by Convenor Prof. Kunal Mukhopadhyay, Head, Department of Bioengineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi.
